December 20 MSN MusicI finally got an MP3 player and went to MSN Music to see what all the hype was about. The experience from beginning to end was quite painless but there were a few bumps along the way. It was somewhat confusing to pick from all of the different vendors that are available through Windows Media Player 10. I still don't know exactly who I purchased the music through. Once I selected the music I wanted to purchase, it took me through the registration process and the site just hung on me. I could navigate to google and other sites so I knew the network problem was not on my end. Eventually, I closed WMP and relaunched it. Much to my surprise, it had rememberd my registration information. Previewing the music and searching for what I wanted was very easy and fast. Much to my surprise, no explicitives are dubbed or beeped out! That was cool! My first purchase was a song from the group called "Godsmack", with a good helping of four letter words to get anyone sufficiently aggressive for a good workout. Did I ever tell you that Godsmack makes for excellent workout music? But I digress. After my first purchase, I went back for more and this time, I had no problems. After the music downloaded, it went straight into my Windows Media Player library and was easy to find and transfer to my MP3 player directly from WMP 10. Overall, I'd give MSN Music a B. Searching for music isn't very powerful and the experience for a novice user could be improved. |
